During this 2-hour intense skills workshop, participants will be divided into small groups that will rotate through four unique stations with hands-on instruction and practice on (1) Venipuncture (Phlebotomy) and (2) IV Placement & Drip. Each participant will be able to practice and observe with immediate feedback from the supervising faculty. Workshop is designed for those looking to enhance their current skills/knowledge and review current practice or looking to acquire new skills

This hands-on workshop will explore best in class diagnostic and treatment techniques for a variety of dermatologic conditions and wounds. Participants will sharpen their dermatological diagnostic skills through dermoscopy practice and elevate your proficiency in subsequent skills such as excision and cryotherapy. Then delve into a dynamic demonstration and hands-n practice covering essential aspects such as wound debridement, biopsies, and mastery of dressing and compression techniques.

In this hands-on workshop, participants will learn how to use POCUS to evaluate common abdominal-based complaints in the family medicine office.  This includes acquiring and interpreting images of the gallbladder, liver, kidneys, spleen, aorta, and bladder.  Also includes review of images representing key abnormal findings (i.e., cholecystitis, ascites, hydronephrosis, aortic aneurysm, urinary retention).  All levels of POCUS experience are welcome, from beginner to advanced user.

In this hands-on workshop, participants will learn how to use POCUS to evaluate common chest-based complaints in the family medicine office.  This includes acquiring and interpreting images of the lungs/pleura and heart.  Also includes review of images representing key abnormal findings (i.e., pleural effusion, pneumothorax, ventricular dysfunction, pericardial effusion).  All levels of POCUS experience are welcome, from beginner to advanced user.

Add-on Workshop***:  Point-of-Care Ultrasound Workshop: Vascular Access & Venous Evaluation

Thursday, July 24 | 1:30 – 3:30 p.m. | Limit 30 


In this hands-on workshop, participants will learn how to use POCUS to guide vascular access procedures and evaluate for deep vein thrombosis (DVT) in the family medicine office or hospital setting.  This includes practicing procedures (i.e., peripheral/central venous catheters) on task trainers under ultrasound guidance.  Also includes performing a serial compression exam to evaluate for lower extremity DVT.  All levels of POCUS experience are welcome, from beginner to advanced user.

Add-on Workshop***:  Point-of-Care Ultrasound Workshop: Shoulder Evaluation

Thursday, July 24 | 4 – 6 p.m.  | Limit 30

In this hands-on workshop, participants will learn how to use POCUS to evaluate common shoulder musculoskeletal complaints in the family medicine office.  This includes acquiring and interpreting images of the rotator cuff muscles, biceps tendon, and surrounding anatomy.  Also includes review of images representing key abnormal findings (i.e., tendinosis, tear, impingement).  All levels of POCUS experience are welcome, from beginner to advanced user.

Registration requires an American Academy of Family Physicians (AAFP) ID. An ID does not constitute or require membership to the AAFP.

If you are an AOA member, please include your AOA number at the bottom of the first page when registering for this event. AAFP will report your AOA Category 1-A CME credits to AOA for you.

CME Credit Statements


The AAFP has reviewed DPC Summit and deemed it acceptable for up to 22.50 Live AAFP Prescribed credit(s). Term of Approval is from 07/24/2025 to 07/27/2025. Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.

This activity has been planned and implemented in accordance with the accreditation requirements and policies of the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) through the joint providership of AAFP and DPC Alliance and ACOFP. The AAFP is accredited by the ACCME to provide continuing medical education for physicians.

The American Academy of Family Physicians designates this Live activity for a maximum of 22.50 AMA PRA Category 1 credit(s)™. Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.

CME activities approved for AAFP credit are recognized by the AOA as equivalent to AOA Category 2 credit.


Cancellation Policy

The AAFP must receive notice of cancellation no later than May 23, 2025. Requests for full cancellations will be refunded—minus a $50 administrative fee. Cancellations or no-shows after this date are not eligible for a refund.

Please allow up to four weeks for delivery of refunds. Fees will be refunded the same way they were paid to the AAFP. This policy covers registration and ticketed events.

The AAFP is not responsible for penalties, non-refundable airline tickets, or hotel deposits that registrants may have spent in the event this course is cancelled or sold out. If a program is canceled by the AAFP, every effort will be made to notify registrants at least 30 days prior to the first day of the course or conference and registration fees will be refunded.
